Retreats are held regularly in the East Midlands; details are given below in white. Retreats aim to help people establish a meditation practice and then to support them in their subsequent training in the Buddhist way. There is a deep sufficiency in all of us and we all have a great capacity to give. One needs the willingness to see oneself with clarity, and instead of judging what one finds, develop the capacity to neither indulge nor suppress the desires and fears that would otherwise be in control.Compassion is at the heart of the process, both for oneself and for all beings. Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey, Telford Buddhist Priory, Rochdale Zen Retreat and all the O.B.C priories have a programme of retreats. Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey is the largest in terms of area and number of resident monastics - see the links page for more info. There are also some one-day retreats led by Rev. Aiden , a senior priest, in the East Midlands. The dates and venues are listed below. |
