From 'Sitting Buddha' by R.M. Daishin Morgan In the Zen tradition, we do not rely upon words and concepts as the means of realizing the Truth. Our way is to point directly to the truth that is within all of us, to trust it and live from it with all the commitment we can muster. We don’t have to make a picture of it, we don’t have to make it into an object that is separate from us or above us in some way, yet it is far more than our egocentric self. We bow to what is greater and we bow to what is within and learn to give up making distinctions between them. When there are no distinctions, there is no self to hold on to; there is this great movement and flow of life itself: Buddha recognizes Buddha and Buddha bows to Buddha.
